Hello, My name is Christy Champoise

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and Holistic Counsellor who works collaboratively with individuals and couples to traverse the challenges that often impact one’s health and well-being. I support my clients in building relational trust, improving effective communication, and navigating personal challenges. My work is informed by extensive study in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and Patanjali’s eight-limbed yoga. I have a passion for a holistic model of transforming the human experience that focuses on personal empowerment, creativity, mindfulness, and somatic awareness.

I work in an integrative way using many models of therapy including person-centered, emotion-focused, psychodynamic, and humanistic. I have a special interest in the use of somatic-based therapeutic interventions, such as Mindfulness and Gendlin’s Focusing, in facilitating and processing emotional content. I am trained in Gottman Level 1 Couples Therapy and am currently undertaking Sue Johnson’s Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) intensive for couples.

I aim to support individuals and couples in understanding and exploring their relationship to themselves and others on a deeper level. I work with clients who may experience any of the following issues: grief and loss, anxiety and depression, spiritual and existential issues, relationship and interpersonal issues, life transitions, low self-esteem and confidence issues, women’s health and menopause, chronic health concerns, stress management, attachment disturbances, as well as immigration and relocation stress.

My intention as a therapist is to provide a safe and open environment where individuals are free to explore a deeper connection to themselves and navigate life’s challenges to promote an experience of personal agency, vitality, and self-trust.

I believe that one’s mental and physical health are intrinsically linked. I have a clear understanding of the integration of mind and body as a whole as informed by my experience with alternative healing modalities, yogic philosophy, mythology, philosophy, and embodied movement practices. My heart-centered, trauma-informed approach to the therapeutic process provides a safe space where an individuals feel supported in exploring their own empowerment and strengths. This approach allows one to come back into wholeness through an invitation to reflect on different aspects of self and inner experience to build a more cohesive understanding and awareness of oneself.
