Mind & body integrated wellness

The Holistic Approach

Healing which includes all aspects of one’s self including mind, body and spirit comes from the understanding that neither aspect can thrive without the other. My work is informed through my background in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Patanjali’s 8 Limbed Yoga, Somatic practices, and Meditation. My therapeutic approach is person-centred and focuses on personal empowerment, relational integrity, emotional regulation and somatic techniques.

Benefits of the holistic approach

The holistic approach to well-being is one which involves looking at the whole makeup of an individual including the mental, physical, spiritual, and relational aspects. My approach focuses on the broader sense of an individual’s life to help inform me of their picture of health and where some aspects may be undernourished.

The holistic approach sees the individual as a whole and therefore addresses all aspects of a person’s life: mind, body, spirit, relationships, career, past trauma, environment, and influence.

Mind

Learning skills to acknowledge challenging or negative thoughts and emotions allows us to understand our mental health. Through self awareness, self reflection and acceptance it is possible to soothe ourselves and understand why we respond the way we do.

Body

Through inquiry into the felt senses within the physical body we find ways to calm the nervous system and reconnect to parts of ourselves we may have lost. Connecting back to our bodies allows us to work with suppressed emotions and learn how to respond rather than react.

spirit

Our spiritual world can be supported through many outlets of joyful play and heartfelt connection. When we are disconnected from our spirit, we feel dull and un-inspired. Understanding our spiritual needs is paramount to our overall health and vitality.

Workshops & Courses

I am currently running several public workshops around intentional practices and the principles of yoga. I will be hosting a Yoga Nidra & Yin Workshop at the end of February at Light Space yoga in Melbourne. I will also be starting a 6 week Beginner’s course hosted at Fort Green in Melbourne. Please email your interest or book via the studio websites.

In challenging times our default may be to self abandon and numb ourselves from feeling. These moments are our best teachers. If we can sit with them, they will show us what we are avoiding and what is too difficult for us to accept. They offer an opportunity for growth and inquiry into our deeper truths. With the right tools we can eventually acknowledge our patterns and make positive changes.
